Ethiopian Airlines has relaunched the direct connection between Addis Ababa and Monrovia, capital of Liberia.
The return to this route is after seventeen years of absence after the Ethiopian company decided to suspend its service to Monrovia airport due to the civil war that broke out in 2007.
Flight ET 933 operates with weekly frequencies, operated by Boeing 787-Dremliner with a capacity of 293 seats, departing from Addis Ababa Bole (ADD) at 10:50 local time, to Monrovia-Roberts (ROB), the airline detailed.
“Each direct flight represents more tourist arrivals and economic movements that permeate the entire sector: hotels, restaurants, transport and tour operators, among others,” said Liberia’s Minister of Transport, Sirleaf Ralph Tyler, during the ceremony held at the Liberian airport on the arrival of the inaugural flight.
According to Mesfin Tasew Bekele, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, “The national airline maintains its ambitions to consolidate its leadership position in Africa by introducing a new flight to Liberia.
