Ethiopian Airlines opens service to Nekemte

Ethiopian Airlines took advantage of the inauguration of the Tumsa airport aerodrome to announce the opening of a new air link linking Addis Ababa to Nekemte. This new service marks a significant step in the development of air transport infrastructure in Ethiopia.

The new Tumsa airport is equipped with a runway capable of accommodating Boeing 737-800 Max aircraft.

Flight frequency

The new line will operate three times a week, on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays. Return flights will also be scheduled on the same days, thus offering a practical and regular solution for travelers.

A vision of national connectivity

Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, expressed the company’s vision behind this initiative. “The creation of this route is part of our strategy to expand our services nationally. We aim to ensure optimal connection between the country’s different airports to better serve our customers and support local economic development.”

Nekemte: an expanding shopping center

Nekemte, a vibrant trading town in western Ethiopia, now enjoys better accessibility. This new air link will not only facilitate travel for business travelers, but also stimulate tourism and trade, thus strengthening Nekemte’s role as a regional economic center.
