Ethiopian Airlines opens wings to Aksum

Ethiopian Airlines continues to expand its network, not only internationally but also within its borders. Just days after announcing the opening of a route to Freetown, the Ethiopian airline has revealed the launch of a new domestic route to Aksum, a city in northern Ethiopia steeped in history.

Aksum, recognized for its rich cultural heritage and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will now be served daily by the national carrier. The move highlights Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to connecting places of cultural and historical significance, while making travel easier for locals and tourists eager to explore Ethiopia’s hidden gems.

The addition of this new destination brings the total number of domestic routes operated by this airline operator to 20, strengthening its leading role in regional connectivity. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to promote Ethiopian tourism and culture, while improving access to different regions of the country.
