Ethiopian Airlines plans to launch service to Australia

Amid impressive growth momentum, Ethiopian Airlines continues its expansion with the announcement of new destinations that will consolidate its position as the leading airline on the African continent. Already present on four continents — Africa, Europe, Asia and America — the Ethiopian airline is about to expand its network even further, this time to Australia.

According to Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, discussions with the Australian government are in advanced stages to launch air links to Sydney or Melbourne. “The inauguration of a flight between Addis Ababa and Sydney or Melbourne is imminent,” Mr. Tasew said.

This project is part of the broader objectives of Ethiopian Airlines which aspires to improve its stature on the global air transport scene. Currently dominant on the African market, the company aims to increase its passenger volume to 67 million annually.
