Ethiopian Airlines recertified by CEIV Pharma

Transporting pharmaceutical products requires reliable and high-quality processes, including controlled temperatures and times to ensure product integrity throughout the supply chain.

Ethiopian Airlines Cargo is the first African airline to receive the CEIV Pharma certification granted by IATA.

The Ethiopian airline is once again recertified by IATA CEIV Pharma. The national carrier has all the necessary processes in place to comply with the regulations associated with the transport of pharmaceutical products. Some of these processes are quality management, staff training, supplier management, internal audits, transportation, among others.

“For Ethiopian Airlines, it is very important to have this certification because it confirms the quality and consistency of our pharmaceutical product. Being the first African airline to obtain this recognition reflects the effectiveness of our efforts to position ourselves as the preferred option for transporting cargo to, from and within Africa. ” said Mesfin Tasew Bekele, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines

“This reaffirms the work we are doing in our business to provide excellent service to our professional customers,” he stressed.

Globally, this certification started in Brussels in 2014 and has since been recognized by airlines, airports, freight forwarders and shippers. Its overall objective is to increase industry knowledge and achieve global standardization, thus helping to improve the processes associated with the transportation of pharmaceutical products.
